This is a picture I “made” of Seven at the emergency vet this weekend. When I came home from work Friday she was scooting about and her ass was a mess (literally). She’s had trouble like this before so off to the emergency vet we went. They fixed her anal glands and shaved her butt – she has a monkey butt now.

Finally, got to see Jens Lekman! He played an acoustic show this weekend w/ Bill Wells at William & Mary. This is the first time he’s come closer than DC, and on a weekend no less! He was wonderful, his “intimacy” makes me uncomfortable. I stepped in dog poop on the walk from the car and spent the better part of the evening offending myself and friends with my odor.

Also, in attempts to find me “something to look forward to” Anna-Claire discovered both Oasis (with Ryan Adams & The Cardinals) and CSS are playing in DC on December 20th… also a Saturday. Naturally I would prefer Oasis, but isn’t $52-$72 ridiculous? They think they are Madonna.

It feels wonderful, for once, to be so unoriginal, to be lost in this enormous planetary crowd and to share this crowd’s wishes, its excitement, its probable coming delight.

Poladroid is a new mac app that converts your digital photos into digital polaroids. I know it’s no substitution for the physical thing, but fun nonetheless! Above is Mike’s Halloween costume, he was a zombie mime! I was a black panther, it didn’t turn out so great, I’ll prepare better next year. 2 weeks ago Ginny, Anna-Claire, Kyle, Mike and I went to the State Fair. We saw/ate pretty rabbits, cheap boot socks, miniature homes, an animatronic pig, fried soda, bonsai forests, potato people and livestock. We didn’t ride any rides, a sign of our age?

Most of you (I think?) are aware that my dad had some major surgery about a week and a half ago. The surgery involved removing a cancerous tumor from his mouth followed by some reconstruction. It took all day, at least 10 hours I think (photos of waiting room excitement above). Everything went so well! I can’t explain how relieved and lucky I feel my whole family feels. He is home, talking, upbeat (considering) and it looks like he will make a full recovery. He may need radiation in the upcoming months, but the huge part is over and I am very grateful.
