This movie, House, looks insane. I saw it on I Love Hot Dogs last night and got so excited I e-mailed them suggesting the Naro as a venue. I don’t have high hopes of seeing it in a theater, but I imagine it should be out on DVD shortly. Criterion also has a pretty sweet House poster for sale.
Sherlock Holmes was real good. I don’t know anything about the Sherlock Holmes stories, but I thought the movie was really fun and well done – the living dead, 19th century science!
I’d been looking forward to Daybreakers for a while. These vampires, when starved, are essentially zombies! Best of both worlds, stylish and gross. Although I could do without the worthless viral marketing sites..
Recommended! This movie was wonderful all around. Story, acting, music, clothes, and Sarsgaard creep (great) factor. I wish I could have 60s big hair.

This is all yours. You’re the owner of this world.
Everyone is probably sick of this movie already, but I’ve largely ignored it for some reason. I watched this trailer tonight and was surprised to hear James Gandolfini. Is it weird that I am comforted by his voice, maybe it’s the Jersey accent? Why is his name Carol? Anyway, I am excited, hopefully it won’t disappoint.

Has Drupal peaked? – I hope not, but Claudio makes some very valid points. I’m not all up in Drupal daily anymore, but I still think Drupal is a good choice if you:
have a large site
are in need of complex menu hierarchy
have a consistent design
are in need of expandability
have many users or editors
and many other uses I am sure!
As a designer, I find it to be overkill for a blog or a small site.
Losing my Religion – “More meta than meat.” Chris Messina writes about design issues in open source.
When it comes to open source and design, design — and human factors, more generally — cannot play second fiddle to engineering. But far too often it seems that that’s the case.
And it shouldn’t be.
More often there should be a design dictator that enters into a situation, takes stock of the set of problems that people (read: end users) are facing, and then addresses them through observation, skill, intuition, and drive. You can evaluate their output with surveys, heuristics, and user studies, but without their vision, execution, and insane devotion to see through making it happen, you’ll never see shit get done right.
Fever – An alternate google reader for nerds. Looks very smart. I hope to try this out.
The Grey Gardens movie is airing on HBO this weekend and I can’t wait! I’m interested in seeing the Edies (and the house) back when things were good for them. Drew Barrymore is annoying, but I will try to look past her.
My Grey Gardens day plan is to get Mike to eat hot plate corn and dress Seven and Rocky up as raccoons and put them in the air conditioning vents. I may even make a best costume for the day.
Ginny and Anna-Claire set up a Grey Gardens/Easter display this past weekend.
I watched Manda Bala (Send A Bullet) last week. It’s a documentary about kidnapping and corruption in Sao Paulo. Brazilian music was used heavily throughout the film, I loved it, even if it seemed to be making light/drowning out some of the more serious interviews. I don’t think the soundtrack was released anywhere officially so I’m going to post it here in case anyone wants to give it a listen.. Download

Like everything else in great demand, people try to own it.
I watched I’m Not There recently and didn’t hate it. I found parts of it difficult, and I admit I even fast forwarded through some of it, but despite that I think I enjoyed it. Cate Blanchett was great, far outshining the other actors. I think it helps that she was playing the most iconic (in my mind) Dylan persona – that hair! that sass!
