“Pitbull” Birthday Party

A couple weekends ago Mackie (the “Pitbull”) drove himself to Virginia Beach to celebrate his 1st birthday with the family. It was a grand occasion complete with cake, candles, and tennis balls. Rocky Balboa even flew in on his magic cardboard carpet for this special occasion.

Magical Creatures

Here is Seven hanging with the latest addition to my room. I have Ginny to thank for pretty much everything on my walls. Coming soon: boring pictures of my fancy new mattress.

The Post-bit Atom?

One reason concerts are alive and records are dead is that there’s a new value in things which can’t be uploaded as digital content to the internet. I call this phenomenon “the post-bit atom”. It also explains why the art market is booming. Art and music have become social occasions. An art opening or a concert (or, even better, an art opening with a concert included) is a chance for people who spend all day in front of computer screens to see their fellow human beings and share an intense, loud, colourful, real experience with them.

Art and music are also “distinction machines”: efficient ways for people to sum up complex clusters of values — social, political, aesthetic and ethical — and connect with like-minded souls. None of this is going to become less important any time soon.

A Good Fit

(Uncle?) Flza gave Seven clothes! Tomorrow she’s going to wear the tank top and wind dance.

L’auberge Feline

A couple weeks late here is my recap on the Feline Inn (Anna-Claire’s house). What Anna-Claire’s house lacks in number of cats, just two in comparison to the Hotel Cat’s four, it makes up for in Ada. Ada is the rolly polly dreamboat pictured above and below. Highlights:

  • Anna-Claire’s drugstore like collection of make up and products.
  • The cold brewed iced coffee + straws.
  • Hi-fi dual alarm clock.

Weekend at The Hotel Cat

I spent this weekend at The Hotel Cat, aka Ginny’s place in Southside. Four kitties of various sizes and dispositions were at my beck and call. In the sink brushing my teeth, on the computer writing my e-mails, doing my laundry, offering beauty makeovers, etc.

Ginny and I saw supported Hot Lava, peeped on people having sex in a car, pulled A-C off the roof and out of her romper, ate a lot of Mexican, drank vodka and watched Susan say farewell to dudez. It was a solid weekend.

Also, Winston (I am not referring to Ginny) was a guest on Pot Psychology! (I’m sorry I sweat Winston…)

STREET BEAR!

Weekend

This weekend my sister Annie turned 23 years old! Unfortunately she stayed in Richmond for the big day, but is coming home next weekend for celebration. Hopefully I can invent a Mexican bean and cheese cake to wow her with. Annie has a big deal appointment today so everyone please wish success on her.

Anna-Claire came for a visit this weekend and our first order of business was to cure Seven. Seven recently waged an imaginary war on Rocky Balboa and as a result gave herself PTSD. She peed on the spare bed nearly every day for a week! Foul. Anna-Claire recommended a Feliway plugin and I think it is working, no pee so far.

We watched movies, went to pilates, swapped music, and went shopping. Girls weekend! Anna-Claire agreed to write a review of No Frill Grill for Broad Audit – a ridiculous opinion blog I contribute to. Her review was very thorough, my only fear is she exceeded our audience’s level of reading comprehension.

I start my new job tomorrow (APRIL FOOLS DAY). I bought some new pens and pencils and am trying not to stress.

Winston!!

Winston, how did I miss you? You were here on the internet for all these years.
