One reason concerts are alive and records are dead is that there’s a new value in things which can’t be uploaded as digital content to the internet. I call this phenomenon “the post-bit atom”. It also explains why the art market is booming. Art and music have become social occasions. An art opening or a concert (or, even better, an art opening with a concert included) is a chance for people who spend all day in front of computer screens to see their fellow human beings and share an intense, loud, colourful, real experience with them.

Art and music are also “distinction machines”: efficient ways for people to sum up complex clusters of values — social, political, aesthetic and ethical — and connect with like-minded souls. None of this is going to become less important any time soon.

I can’t figure out how to take a decent picture with this cute, tiny, squirt gun looking camera I bought on the cheap. It makes everyone in my life glow.

Testing out Flickr’s new video service (with an oldie)

This is a really great picture I found on flickr of my sister Annie and her little family (-2 cats).

Came across Square America today. The (seemingly) thousands of photos are organized in a variety of ways, so you can spend a lot of time here – like a library.

I chose these especially for Thanksgiving.

I bought this British Fashion magazine, Lula, mostly for the font on the cover. I say mostly because I probably could have figured it out in the store (the font is Kursivschrift with modifications). Gripes: The thing is, it’s really self indulgent, overly hip and feminine, and doesn’t tell me about anything new. The interviews are set in this difficult typeface that makes me think they don’t want you to read!

I will probably buy it again, the photos are really nice.
